What is Music Effect Design?

M.E.D. is a culmination of years shared vision, aspirations, and an eagerness to help others, tailored for those who seek opportunities to improve, though they may struggle in how to do so. No matter what you do within our activity, your contributions are essential to making our activity better. We intend to provide resources that hone your skills, knowledge, and ultimately your career in the marching arts.

Our Story

The path that led us to Music Effect Design was oblique. An interweaving of five individuals through various seasons of life. Chiefly, it was the bolstering of a philosophy:

Inside everyone is excellence, but excellence does not happen alone.
It is our responsibility as a community to cultivate greatness. 

To some, greatness is cultivated through the guiding hands of a mentor. Someone familiar with the stumbles one finds along the path, who helps us tread forward with care. Not all who seek a kindred spirit to guide them find one. Often still, they cast forward blindly- unfamiliar with the difficulties before them.

We are educators, friends, and students of the marching arts. The founding membership met through summer clinics that sent us across the country. For years, we mentored passionate students within the marching arts. Those rigorous summers enhanced our craft, and our passion brought us together to create this program. 

Our singular obsession is providing exceptional and accessible resources for the development of students, directors, instructors, and designers in the pageantry arts. It is a labor of passion, a testament to how a niche art form could so profoundly change so many. And how it has crafted each of us.

Video Series

Design Details is a series of videos where we break down aspects the marching arts in order to craft an exceptional show. We freely offer mentorship through openly sharing our knowledge, our resources, and our colleagues who share our philosophies. 

Blogs

Standing alongside our video offerings, our [blogs] offer insights dedicated to education, the topic in which we are most passionate. There is sometimes a tendency within our community to quietly hide knowledge thought to give a competitive advantage. We intend to provide full transparency in all that we know and do. You will find our collective knowledge on display within our Blog. 

Show Design

Ultimately, we are educators and designers. If you are looking for a new direction for your program, we offer decades of experience in show design. If you are seeking guidance in coordination, arranging or drill writing, we have team members who are invested in excellence for you and your students.
