What Your Student Brings Back from Summer Camp
I do not identify as a “salesperson”. In fact, none of us at Music Effect Design label ourselves as salespeople. The very best that we usually accomplish is a meager suggestion that you check out our resources and see if there’s anything for you that they offer (wink wink).
But if there is one single thing that we believe in, it is the value of our summer clinic series. Summer clinics brought us together a decade ago. So today is the day. I am doing the thing that none of us usually want to do. Today is the day I try to convince you that something we offer is worth your consideration.
Okay, deep breath, here it goes:
Summer camps offer a unique opportunity for students to develop their skills, build relationships, and make lasting memories. At Spark Summer Clinics, we believe that our program empowers students in key ways. Every year directors share stories of how their student came back from camp transformed. During our camp at Wittenberg University, students will grow as performers and leaders. Through guided activities and rehearsals, students develop a sense of community, learn more about their strengths, and learn to fall in love with the pursuit of excellence. Today I want to expand on five things that your student will bring back from our summer clinic program:
Performance Skills
At Spark Summer Clinics, students receive instruction from experienced clinicians who are fully invested in their growth. We customize our schedule to meet the needs of each student in front of us. Through technique blocks, sectionals, and full ensemble rehearsals, our program provides students with the opportunity to improve as performers. By our last day, students glean new insights into their craft and elevate their skills.
Leadership & Teamwork
We believe that leadership and teamwork are the cornerstone of a successful marching band program. That’s why we offer a range of activities and customized scenarios that are designed to help students develop their leadership skills, build effective teams, and work collaboratively towards a common goal. From leadership training to team-building exercises, your student will have the opportunity to learn in real-time and gain valuable insights into what it takes to be a successful leader and team player.
Community
One of the most powerful aspects of the marching arts is the sense of community that it fosters. From our very first interaction, we work to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. From meals together to social activities, your student will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share their passion for music and the marching arts. By the end of the clinic, your student will have developed new friendships and a sense of belonging that will last long after the program has ended.
Identity
The marching arts often play a powerful role in sculpting students’ sense of identity and purpose. In any band program, every member counts. We invest time each day to allow students to explore what they bring to their team. Whether a student is a leader in their program or not, Spark is designed to help students embrace their individuality and find their own voice in any team.
Pursuit of Excellence
At Spark Summer Clinics, we believe that the pursuit of excellence is pivotal to the success of any program. Our instructors and clinicians dedicate time pushing students to be better while maintaining an uplifting environment. Whether your student is an experienced performer or just starting out, our program is designed to challenge them and push them to be the best that they can be. By the end of the clinic, your student will have a newfound appreciation for what it takes to excel as a musician and a renewed commitment to pursuing excellence in all that they do.
But the best part about Spark is that students bring back what they learn to their band programs. Through many years of experimentation, we implement strategies that help our students internalize our methods and strategies. We believe that what your students bring back from summer camp is the most important part of the whole week.
Time for the Ask
Okay, that wasn’t so bad! It’s easy to “sell” something when you believe in it fully. And we do. Spark Summer Clinics offers students more than can be said with words. Whether your student is a seasoned performer or just starting out, our curriculum provides tools and strategies they need to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
Now comes the scariest part of “the sell”. Now is the part where I ask you to invest in your students by investing in us! Check out our Summer Clinics page to learn more about the program.
We hope to see your students on June 11 at Wittenberg University!
